Math Champions
On May 19, Deloitte University announced the winners for their Right Step Innovation Prize –Reasoning Mind. According to vice chairman of US Life Sciences & Health Care and Corporate Citizenship Education champion, Deloitte LLP, Bill Copeland, “Research shows that mathematics instruction in the US requires a comprehensive approach to be successful. And, we know that math learning is a key indicator to future student success and achievement.” Reasoning Mind is an organization that is dedicated to that exact cause – providing children with the best math education. With Skild’s online contest management work, Deloitte was able to properly judge the contestants and help push the pathway for math learning.
Dynamic learning
John Levis, the Global Chief Innovation Officer of Deloitte expressed how outstanding Reasoning Mind was:
“Deloitte’s judges were impressed by Reasoning Mind’s dynamic online learning system which adjusts moment-to-moment to respond to student’s ongoing performance. However, this is not a standalone, off-the-shelf solution. Reasoning Mind offers the wrap around support for schools and teachers to help make sure their technology achieves results.”
Finding the most deserving organization
Through Skild’s online contest software, Deloitte was able to design and develop RightStep to be an innovative competition that took place over 6 months. Based off of the following criteria, Deloitte’s Right Step judges were able to choose Reasoning Mind by its:
- Commitment to underserved youth
- Technology solution’s level of innovation
- How scalable the solution was in term’s of impacting target beneficiaries
- How the mission aligns with Deloittes’s education initiative
Upon winning, co-founder and president of Reasoning Mind expressed the utmost gratitude for being selected the champions. He said,
“We are honored and excited to be selected as the winner. We’ve seen not only tremendous growth over the last five years, but also tremendous impact and student outcomes as a result of our work. With Deloitte’s support, we know we can even further scale the reach of our effective programming to more students, transforming the way students learn math in schools.”

Due to the abundant research studies that show how students improved their overall scores and attitudes towards math, Reasoning Minds approach has proven to be an intelligent addition into classrooms.
