Online Contest Management Will Make Health Solutions a Reality

Who do you think will win?

If you had the skills to create something that could make an impact in the medical world, would you? The AMA Healthier Nation Innovation Challenge has been looking for bright minded medical students, residents, and physicians to help shape the world of medicine and as of May 31st, the top 5 finalists were chosen through the online contest software. After the judges picked from over 117 outstanding entries, they chose these 5 finalists:

Analysis

  • Blindness Prevention in the Palm of Your Hand
  • SimX: Augmented Reality Medical Simulation
  • Twiage: Accelerating Life-Saving Care
  • Light Line Catheter
  • Web-based Test Technology to Detect and Diagnose Eye Disease

Now that those 5 finalists have been chosen, their next step is to present their proposals at the AMA Healthier Nation Innovation Challenge event on June 11th. At the event, the top 5 will have the opportunity to showcase their creation to about 250 medical professionals as well as a panel of judges. The judging panel is full of leaders in the medical world who know what it takes to get things done in healthcare. A few of the distinguished judges are:

  • Ateet Adhikari, MPA, JD – Vice President of Healthbox
  • Maryam Saleh, PhD – Vice President of Programs for Matter and founding member of Cyberkinetics
  • Jeff Blackman, MBA – Vice President of Portfolio Management, AMA

Much-deserved grants

Once the 3 winners are chosen, they will be awarded one of the following prizes:

1st Place – $25,000 and access to a wide network of healthcare accelerators, mentors, and support
2nd Place – $15,000 and access to a wide network of healthcare accelerators, mentors, and support
3rd place – $10,000 and access to a wide network of healthcare accelerators, mentors, and support 

Changing the world of medicine one challenge at a time

Skild may not be the doing the online contest management for the AMA Healthier Nation Innovation Challenge, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t big supporters of the competition. With more innovative challenges out there, there is a better chance of positive change and growth in our world.
